For instance I thought about how the colour of city lights has changed over my life time from sphere orange to LED white (Just look at the night time glow over London it's a totally different colour to when I lived there). White LEDs are mad up of LEDs of various colours, but what would happen if the raw material for one or two of the colours became unavailable. The colour of the city lights would change again. You could end up back with just red LEDs and have a red light city.
But of course my brain would not accept that. Not just because reds an awful colour for lighting, but why would something become unavailiable. Then I thought of trade wars. A feature of current trade battles is that rather than imposing tariffs as repost to tariffs countries are instead strangling supplies of vital things to their opponents. What if things got so bad that all the trading blocks stopped trading in the elements needed in LEDs or other lighting systems. Which cities would end up what colour. Now I have a song concept I don't time to research right now and I can't write the song till I know what colour places would end up.
Also I'm pondering an album of theme tunes to fictional 80's animations that I will have to sort of invent before I make them tunes for them.
